Surge, the citrus-flavored soda that disappeared from store shelves in 2002, is making a comeback by Burger King in a cool new way.
The burger chain is selling Frozen Surge, a slushy version of the bright green beverage that was pretty much Coca-Cola's version of Mountain Dew and which amassed a cult-like following.
“The popularity of Surge has stood the test of time, and the overwhelming demand from fans drove our decision to bring it back,” said Bobby Oliver, director citrus brands, Coca-Cola North America said in a statement. “We’re expanding the signature taste and distinctive color of Surge to frozen form and making it available to the masses.”
Surge was first introduced to the U.S. by Coke in 1996, but as sales started to slump in the early 2000s, the company pulled the green soda from stores.
In 2014, after a group of friends started The Surge Movement, a guerilla campaign dedicated to bringing back the soda, Coke brought it back.
The Movement’s Facebook page drew over 300,000 likes from Surge fans around the world and, after a successful reintroduction via Amazon.com, Coke began reintroducing the soda in limited markets across the U.S. earlier this year.
Frozen Surge went on sale Nov. 16 and will only be available at Burger King restaurants.

Coke moves to Colour Changing Labels in Follow-up to ‘Colour Your Summer’ Campaign

via Mumbrella

Coke is kicking off it’s summer marketing campaign with another innovation – temperature sensitive colour changing labels – as it continues to build on the ‘Come Alive’ theme.

The latest effort is a development of the ‘Colour Your Summer’ initiative which saw Coke market the soft drink in a variety of colours, departing from the traditional Coke red last summer – as it looked to reconnect with younger consumers.
Coke will also use image recognition technology to create an experiential element to the campaign as part of the multi-million dollar push.
“Consumers will be able take a snap of their Coke products, when they have come alive with colour, and win unique experiences, content and more. This year the image recognition technology will be able to recognise ‘Come Alive’ colour packs across the entire trademark – Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero and Coke Life, as well as recognise packs that feature in our campaign advertising,” Coca-Cola Amatil said in its press release.
The brand will team with Universal Music Brand Partnerships Division to identify and recruit a number of influential artists this summer including Troye Sivan, Cody Simpson and Tigerlily.
Consumers will then have the chance to win tickets to exclusive events.
Influencers in the teen space will also be recruited to support Coke’s messaging across social media.

Paris Saint-Germain x Coca Cola Bottltes by Ceizar & Mambo

via Hypebeast

Parisian football club Paris Saint-Germain is the latest to take on the iconic Coca Cola bottle, joining the brand for collaborative takes on the Coke and Coke Zero packaging. Tapping two French artists for the customization, the bottles employ Ceizer’s typographical touches throughout while Parisian monuments like the Eiffel Tower and Sacre-Coeur come courtesy of Mambo. Available exclusively through colette, the limited edition collectibles can be picked up individually for €45 EUR (approximately $50 USD) each or in a two-pack — complete with a book and glasses — for €169 EUR (approximately $187 USD).
