Just when you thought you’d seen and heard it all in this frantic smartphone era, news such as this comes along and upends everything. The soft drink company has confirmed they will be launching a limited edition smartphone.
"Available in China only, this effort is similar to recent globally licensed Pepsiproducts which include apparel and accessories," a PepsiCo spokeswoman told Reuters.
In all likelihood, the company that is known more famously for producing Mountain Dew and Mirinda will not actually be building this smartphone, and they’ve been tight-lipped about specific details and features of the phone. But Chinese site Sina reports that the phone will be called the “P1” and will purportedly have mid-level specifications including a 5.5-inch screen, 1080p display, 1.7GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage, 3,000mAH battery, a 13MP main camera and 5MP front camera. It will be running Android 5.1 Lollipop and is expected to be priced at an equivalent of Rs 13,300 (1,299 Yuan.) They phone is expected to be unveiled in Beijing on 20 October.
