As health conscious consumers rise up against high fructose corn syrup in soft drinks, soda makers discover the ultimate replacement, sugar. Sugar used to have high prices which forced makers to turn to high fructose corn syrup as an alternative. Some groups, such as the Grocery Manufacturers Associate, don’t see the harm in high fructose corn syrup.
